Taking Environmental Accountability to the NGT

What began as an effort to document environmental concerns in Panipat grew into a larger pursuit for institutional accountability.

After raising concerns surrounding pollution, waste management, and environmental compliance, the matter reached the Punjab & Haryana High Court, with a successful direction bringing the issues before the judicial system. The pursuit didn’t end there.

The campaign is now being actively pursued before the National Green Tribunal (NGT), seeking environmental accountability and action through India’s specialised environmental adjudicatory body.

For EcoEngage, this campaign represents a simple idea: young people don’t have to remain spectators to environmental problems. They can document what is happening, question institutions, engage with the law, and pursue accountability through the systems designed to protect the environment.
